Between both our boats, we offer a total of 6 itineraries – all different and all fun
Rum Runner II – built in the 1920s as an original rum smuggler during the height of prohibition.
Our morning Lighthouses & Mimosas Cruise is our newest and fast became one of the most popular cruises we have. The Captain and crew will take you on a 75 minute journey highlighting 5 lighthouses in Newport Harbor and the southern end of Narragansett Bay. While we do point out other places of interest, this cruise focuses primarily on lighthouses and their history. We’ll also offer some light morning music playing in the background while we move around on our route. This cruise includes complimentary mimosas and madeleines as well as bottled water.
Our East Passage Express Cruise is approximately 75 minutes long and gives a great general overview of Newport’s waterfront. This is a great trip especially if you haven’t been boating in Newport before – we give the most narration and great up-close views on many points of interest along the waterfront. We offer complimentary bottled water on board.
The Smugglers Cocktail Cruise leaves ever evening for a 1 hour scenic trip through Newport Harbor and the down to Castle Hill at the entrance into Narragansett Bay. This trip is great to sit back and enjoy the ride, listen to music and quench your thirst with a rum punch or cold beer. The Captain has a selection of music to play – this trip is not narrated like the earlier cruises but it is very scenic and great for picture taking and listening to fun upbeat music.
Madeleine is a traditional built Bermuda rig schooner designed to take guest on for a remarkable sailing experience through historic Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay:
Start the day off with our Morning Glory Sail aboard Madeleine. We’ll depart the dock under motor, find a clear spot and watch the crew hoisting sails. The Captain will shut the engine down and off we go by the wind. While enjoying both the scenery and the sailing experience, you can sip on a seasonal beverage (mimosas, peach bellini or a hot cider with a splash of rum) and enjoy a sweet Madeleine (that delicious little french pastry shaped like a scallop shell).
We offer a 1 ½ hour Scenic Day Sail that allows passengers to experience the thrill of the breeze filling the sails as we glide past various estates, islands and lighthouses. While not formally narrated, our crew is very knowledgeable on the area and point out a variety of highlights while tending lines and sails.
Madeleine also has a Champagne Sunset Sail every evening complete with champagne and beer, water and ice tea. You can experience all the attraction of our Scenic Day Sail with the added bonus of basking in a golden sunset while sipping champagne. Madeleine’s Sunset Sail is probably the most popular cruise that we offer and sells out most nights through the summer months. Champagne and beer are included in the ticket price.
For your convenience, a restroom is available on board both boats. Because of their popularity, Madeleine and Rum Runner II easily sell out on evenings and weekends way ahead of time. Reservations are highly suggested, particularly on weekends and evenings. Madeleine sails from the last weekend of April through the 1st weekend in November. Beautiful sights abound throughout the trip so make sure to bring a camera. Sunscreen also suggested when sailing morning and afternoon trips.
